Baxter International Inc. announced the launch of its Welch Allyn Connex 360 Vital Signs Monitor, a next-generation patient monitoring device designed to streamline workflows and improve data security in hospitals.
The device, which has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, is part of Baxter’s connected monitoring portfolio. It captures vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate and blood oxygen levels for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients. Baxter said care teams can record a full set of vitals in less than one minute and send them automatically to the electronic medical record, reducing the risk of manual entry errors.
“There is nothing more important than keeping patients safe, especially when time is of the essence,” said Julie Foster, president of Front Line Care at Baxter. “With Connex 360, we are advancing patient monitoring to provide care teams with the timely insights they need at the bedside, so they can make the most of every moment with their patients.”
Key features of Connex 360 include enhanced security with end-to-end encryption, customizable protocols to alert clinicians to signs of patient deterioration, and a large, responsive touchscreen that allows more data to be viewed at once. The device also supports easy software upgrades for clinical and cybersecurity improvements, helping reduce the burden on hospital IT teams.
The monitor integrates with Baxter’s cloud-based DeviceBridge platform, which enables secure data transfer to hospital IT systems and supports interoperability across Baxter’s connected devices.
Baxter entered the patient monitoring market through its acquisition of Hillrom and the Welch Allyn portfolio. The company said Connex 360 builds on that legacy by offering a scalable, customizable solution to support hospitals and health systems.
The device is now available for order in the U.S.
