Practices everywhere are fighting the same battle: too much administrative work, not enough staff to do it, and rising costs that make solving it harder every year. Staffing has become one of the biggest challenges medical practices face, with physician burnout, an aging workforce, and a shrinking graduate pipeline colliding against growing patient demand. A new global index set out to answer exactly that question, scoring 32 countries across three dimensions: how large the talent pool is, how concentrated it is relative to population, and how ready that workforce actually is to serve US practices. The results reshuffle some assumptions about who the real players are in healthcare staffing — and reveal a widening gap between the countries with the deepest talent and the ones that can actually deliver it at a price practices can sustain.
