INTRODUCTION

Like most investors, physicians are searching for investment opportunities to diversify and strengthen their financial portfolios for the long term. Substantial changes in the regulatory environment have opened the private capital markets to greater participation by individual investors who can now more easily access nontraditional investment opportunities, according to John Gallagher, CEO of LeagueMed.

The League, which will be launching this fall, is a new digital community of physicians and health care professionals focused on the personal, professional and financial well-being of its HCP members and features access to a well curated menu of private investment opportunities in Medical Technology and innovation. In this Medical Economics Practice Academy session, Gallagher discussed the rise of alternative investments and private capital markets, the opportunities for physician investors, and how LeagueMed’s offerings will fit into this landscape.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What is LeagueMed?

LeagueMed is a digital community of physicians and medical professionals bound together by a commitment to education, discovery, and shared benefits, including select private investment opportunities in the medical arts and sciences. LeagueMed features a robust offering of professional educational opportunities, virtual and in-person events, and well curated content that specifically addresses the interests, needs and concerns of medical professionals. This is a focused community possessing a comprehensive medical intelligence which delivers exclusive LeagueMed member benefits and promising private investment opportunities. The League enables its members to leverage their education, training, and experience to enhance their personal, professional, and financial well-being.

Q: How much is membership to the League?

Membership to the League is free.

Q: Is LeagueMed a crowdfunding site?

We’re not a crowdfunding site. Crowdfunding is a legal and regulatory term. Crowdfunding tends to relate to startups, and we’re not so focused on startups. We want to finance those companies who developed and demonstrated a substantial value proposition and that need capital to grow. But we are part of a larger phenomenon of bringing the “power of the crowd” to bear on private company finance and to use that to advance health care innovation and medical technology.

Q: The League plans a personalized and curated experience for the health care professional. What does that mean?

The first thing we’re focused on is the health care professional, to the exclusion of all else, and we think our focus is our strength. Thereby, we can develop resources and provide benefits that are focused on this community of professionals. The wonders of technology allow us to address each individual health care professional. Everybody will have a dashboard, their own kind of personal area in the League. We’ll be able to communicate with that person individually based on their specialty, their interests and what’s valuable to them. We are excited about this dialogue, this relationship we are fostering.

Q. How can I register or learn more?

The initial onboarding of members will be limited. Email the word “RESERVE” to membership@ LeagueMed.com to sign up for free and reserve your spot in The League.
