Connecticut AG sues Health Net of Connecticut in January for failing to secure private medical records and financial information of 446,000 enrollees.

CONNECTICUT Attorney General Richard Blumenthal sued Health Net of Connecticut Inc. in January for failing to secure private medical records and financial information of 446,000 enrollees. He was the first state attorney general to take HIPAA enforcement action since being granted the authority by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act.

The head of the OREGON Pain Management Commission believes physicians are not providing comprehensive pain treatment due to inadequate training, personal biases, or fear of drug abuse. "We have more sophisticated pain management techniques available now than ever before," says pharmacist Kathryn Hahn. "But many doctors are not fully informed about all the options available."
