Accountable care wins, but physicians and policy experts warn cuts are baked in
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released its proposed 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule on July 14, drawing swift reaction from physician and health care organizations nationwide. Groups including the American College of Physicians (ACP), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), Primary Care Collaborative (PCC), America's Physician Groups (APG), AMGA, NAACOS, Accountable for Health (A4H0 and the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) broadly welcomed proposed investments in primary care, accountable care organizations and whole-person health services. But most organizations also raised concerns about proposed cuts to Medicare's conversion factor and renewed calls for Congress to tie future payment updates to inflation.
