Everyone gets tired, but physicians should know that debilitating fatigue and post-exertional malaise are real for patients. Sometimes pacing their activities and gradual progressions are necessary in treatment for patients to make a full recovery. Monica Verduzco-Gutierrez, MD, FAAPMR, specializes in brain injury medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation at UT Health San Antonio, and is a volunteer leader and member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
