COVID-19’s Early Impact on Health Care Organizations

Article

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many medical practice owners and administrators to reexamine how they measure their organization’s progress.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many medical practice owners and administrators to reexamine how they measure their organization’s progress, according to Nate Moore, CPA, FACMPE, a speaker at the Medical Group Management Association’s Medical Practice Excellence Pathways Conference. Much of the data Moore used to illustrate his presentation, “Rethinking Metrics, Dashboards, and Appointments” came from MGMA surveys during the spring and summer of 2020,* thereby providing a window into the pandemic’s early impact on medical practices.

*Unless otherwise noted, results are from surveys conducted April-August 2020
