Average life expectancy in the U.S. varies widely by location.

How long can an American expect to live? The length of any individual’s life depends on many factors, but location is an important one in the U.S. Someone living in Stamford, Connecticut can expect to live, on average, nearly nine years longer than a resident of Jackson, Mississippi. What follows are the 10 metropolitan areas with the longest and shortest average life expectancies.
