The Leapfrog Group: Extrapolating results about diagnostic error

A study at academic medical centers found 23% of patients transferred to an intensive care unit or who died in hospital experienced a diagnostic error, “the majority of which were harmful to the patient.” Is that an indicator that similar errors take place in other hospitals?
