Stevanato Group launches pen injector platform targeting GLP-1, obesity drug market
Key Takeaways
- Deora uses a pull-push workflow that sets a fixed dose then injects, minimizing steps and lowering the likelihood of dosing errors during repeated administrations.
- Compatibility with 1.5 mL and 3 mL cartridges enables fixed-dose volumes up to 0.75 mL, supporting incretin regimens while leveraging established primary packaging formats.
New pen injector features pull-push mechanism designed to minimize dosing errors, support scalable manufacturing for pharma partners
Stevanato Group S.p.A. introduced a new pen injector platform aimed at the fast-growing market for incretin-based therapies, including
The device, called Deora, is a multi-use, fixed-dose pen injector built around a pull-push mechanism: users pull to set the dose, then push to inject. The company said the simplified sequence eliminates manual dose selection, reducing the potential for user error and supporting consistent delivery across multiple administrations.
Deora is compatible with standard 1.5 mL and 3 mL cartridges and can accommodate fixed-dose volumes up to 0.75 mL. Stevanato said the platform is designed to work across multiple fixed-dose configurations with minimal design changes between variants and to integrate into existing pharmaceutical supply chains.
“We believe there is space for a simple, multi-use device that enhances the patient experience while simultaneously reducing the pressure on supply chain scale-up,” said Michele Monico, president of drug delivery systems and in vitro diagnostics at Stevanato Group.
The Milan-area company, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker STVN, said early customer interest has prompted it to provide evaluation units to pharmaceutical partners for testing and development. Stevanato said production is aligned to support future commercialization.
Deora joins the company’s existing device lineup, which includes the Alina and Aidaptus platforms. Stevanato said the addition gives pharmaceutical customers a broader range of handheld device options across therapeutic categories.
Founded in 1949, Stevanato Group provides drug containment, drug delivery and diagnostic solutions to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences industries.
