Safety under pressure: Every day is a high-risk day

Andrea Greco explains why duress alerts now spike across the full week — and what that means for how practices plan for safety.

CENTEGIX’s latest data show a sharp shift: last year, duress alerts clustered on certain days. This year, they’re spread almost evenly across all seven — with only slight dips on Sundays and Mondays. Andrea Greco, senior vice president of healthcare sales at CENTEGIX, unpacks what that means for frontline safety.

Greco says the takeaway is blunt: there is no “quiet day” anymore. Every day carries real risk of violence in care settings. That reality, she argues, should push leaders to move beyond one-off fixes and instead build a safety program that is data-driven and continuous.

Her advice to practices and health systems: stay on top of your own alert data, analyze patterns regularly and plan as if any shift, on any day, could be the one when things escalate.
