Insurance paperwork needs to be standardized, simplified, and transparent as part of healthcare reform, according to two medical groups.

The Medical Group Management Association sent recommendations last month to the Secretary of Health and Human Services regarding a section of the healthcare reform legislation open for public comment.

MGMA stated that insurers' failure to adopt simplified, standardized, automated processes for claims payment results in "significant unnecessary administrative costs to all categories of providers," according to the comments.
