
Long COVID: Introducing the PASC Collaborative
Specialty clinics for treating long COVID
The American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation has formed the PASC Collaborative, a network of 41 clinics to support patients with long COVID and to study the disease. They have experts from multiple specialties that have offered guidelines on treating long COVID. Monica Verduzco-Gutierrez, MD, FAAPMR, explains what the clinics do and how AAPM&R guidelines can help physicians and patients understand this illness. Verduzco-Gutierrez specializes in brain injury medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation at UT Health San Antonio, and is a volunteer leader and member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. As a physician and as a long COVID patient, Verduzco-Gutierrez has become an advocate for medical and policy solutions to help patients deal with the disease.
