America’s oldest counties: a slideshow

Slideshow

U.S. Census Bureau figures show the graying of America.

America’s median age increased by 0.2 years to 38.9 years from 2021 to 2022, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Baby boomers and their children all are getting older, which is pushing up the nation’s median age, Kristie Wilder, a demographer in the Census Bureau’s Population Division, said in a news release.

There are 3,144 counties across the United States and median ages ranged from 20.9 to 68.1 years.

Where are the oldest median ages? Here are seven counties where half the people are younger than age 60, and half are older.
