AHA seeks out health technology innovations that reach people where they live, work and play.

Cutting-edge health care technology is anything but cold and heartless, according to the American Heart Association (AHA).

Patients in the United States and around the world have benefited from major advances in care. Even so, almost half of American adults live with some form of cardiovascular disease or stroke, according to AHA.

“To close this gap, innovative health solutions must reach people where they live, work and play,” said the AHA news release announcing this year’s companies invited to join the Innovators’ Network.

AHA announced this year’s awards as part of this month’s Scientific Sessions 2025. The live Health Tech Competition is a live forum for health care innovators to present digital solutions for treating or preventing cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Finalists addressed clinical problems such as heart failure, hypertension, congenital heart defects and other pressing issues in cardiovascular, brain and metabolic health, said AHA’s official description.

“The Health Tech Competition is like our own version of Shark Tank, showcasing groundbreaking innovations that have the potential to transform care. What excites me most is seeing science come to life in ways that reach people where they live, work and play,” television personality and AHA national volunteer Star Jones said in the news release. An attorney, Jones also served as one of this year’s judges.

“These technologies aren’t just promising — they’re poised to make a real impact,” Jones said.
