Coronavirus: Final year medical students may graduate early
Early graduation may become a reality for eligible medical students in their final year.
The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) announced this week that final-year medical students may be eligible for early graduation if they meet certain criteria, according to an official statement.
The statement says each medical school must review their educational program objectives (EPOs). If students have completed their required courses and clerkships, they may be able to graduate early.
Each student should also be evaluated by their Student Advancement and Promotion Committee.
In addition, the schools can choose to waive graduation requirements such as electives in order to expedite the students’ graduation, according to the statement.
