Physician satisfaction isn't just about earning more — it's about feeling fairly paid. These 10 states lead the nation in how satisfied doctors are with their compensation, according to new Marit Health data.

A new analysis from Marit Health ranks the top states for physician pay satisfaction, using thousands of verified, self-reported submissions. Physicians rated their satisfaction on a 5-point scale (1 = Very Dissatisfied, 5 = Very Satisfied). The national average pay satisfaction score is 3.59★.

This analysis only includes states and jurisdictions with at least 25 verified submissions. While total compensation plays a role, other factors like cost of living, benefits and local health system structure can heavily influence how fairly physicians feel they’re paid.

This list highlights the 10 states where physicians report the highest levels of satisfaction with their compensation, even when salaries vary widely.
