UroViu's CE-certified portable endoscopy device offer procedures with wireless connectivity, enhancing efficiency and patient care in urology and urogynecology.

UroViu Corp. announced that it has received CE certification for its cystoscope and hysteroscope product portfolio. The certification covers its reusable UV5000w Wi-Fi Handle and the disposable Hystero-V, Uro-V, and Uro-GHD endoscopes.

“This CE certification is a significant milestone for UroViu and will enable us to offer our versatile, portable, and environmentally friendly endoscopy portfolio to patients in all regions that accept the CE Marking worldwide,” said Bruce OuYang, Ph.D., chief executive officer. “The UV5000w platform represents a major advancement in endoscopy, allowing clinicians to maintain their line of sight during procedures while providing secure wireless connectivity and simultaneous external display for patient and additional clinician viewing.”

UroViu said its portfolio has been widely adopted across U.S. urology and urogynecology markets, including private practices, ambulatory surgical centers, academic institutions, and VA and DOD health care facilities. The company noted that its devices feature a self-contained, cordless, untethered design that eliminates the need for peripherals, reduces the carbon footprint of disposable products, and offers devices whose weight and profile are half to a third that of comparable products.

The UV5000w’s portability and simplicity can transform any room into a procedure room, allowing schedule expansion and workflow efficiencies, according to the company. The portfolio also supports rapid addition of single-use cannulas optimized for various indications, providing flexibility without requiring investment in additional reusable devices.

Advancements in the endoscopy sector

The endoscopy devices market is undergoing a period of rapid innovation, driven by growing demand for minimally invasive procedures, infection control, and the shift toward outpatient care. Analysts estimate the global endoscopy devices market at around $61 billion in 2024, with projections reaching roughly $76 billion by 2030. Disposable and semi-disposable endoscopes are among the fastest-growing product segments, reflecting hospitals’ and clinics’ push for convenience, sterility, and efficiency.

A major trend shaping the field is the movement away from traditional reusable scopes toward single-use or semi-disposable options. These devices help address the risk of cross-contamination and eliminate the cost and complexity of sterilization and reprocessing. In urology and cystoscopy, in particular, clinicians are adopting ready-to-use disposable scopes that simplify workflow and expand procedure capacity outside hospital operating rooms.

Manufacturers are also integrating wireless connectivity, high-definition imaging, and lightweight, mobile designs. The latest platforms often feature Wi-Fi-enabled handles and wireless video transmission, allowing procedures to be performed anywhere in the clinic while displaying images on external monitors for staff and patient viewing. At the same time, advances in optics and sensor technology are leading to smaller-diameter scopes with sharper imaging, including 4K and 3D capabilities, and early uses of artificial intelligence for navigation and anomaly detection.

The migration of endoscopic procedures to office and ambulatory settings is reshaping how clinicians deliver care, creating demand for more compact, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious systems. Despite challenges such as per-use cost and waste management, the sector is steadily moving toward a new generation of portable, versatile, and intelligent endoscopy platforms designed to make procedures more accessible, efficient, and patient-friendly.
