Physician alignment is the most serious obstacle to forming accountable care organizations (ACOs), according to a new study.
Fifty-eight percent of respondents to the survey by staffing firm AMN Healthcare said their facilities are forming ACOs or are thinking about doing so.
Of that group, 42% said physician alignment is the single biggest obstacle to their efforts, followed by lack of capital (38%), lack of integrated information technology systems (31%), and lack of evidence-based treatment protocol data (25%).
