Physicians in politics: On patient reaction and doctor leadership

Jasmeet Bains, MD, of Delano, California, is an elected member of the California State Assembly. She specializes in family and addiction medicine. Here she shares her throughts about patient reaction to her run for office, and why physicians make good leaders in public service.

Bains also supported the new Grow Our Own Bill, signed into law to create a new medical school in California. The plan is to improve health of patients and fill a shortage of physicians in a region that needs it in that state.
