Lisa Grabl, group president of CHG Healthcare, says more than 70% of health care facilities are turning to locum tenens physicians to fill staffing gaps as they search for permanent hires.

“Finding alternative ways to deal with this shortage over the coming years is going to be imperative,” she says. Grabl emphasizes that temporary staffing acts as a crucial bridge, especially in rural hospitals, helping maintain care continuity while long-term solutions are pursued. “I think we’ll see it as a bigger and bigger topic,” she adds.
