Coronavirus case numbers in the United States: AUGUST 24 update

Data from the COVID tracking project on coronavirus cases, test results and more.

How many novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases were announced today?

The COVID Tracking Project is a volunteer effort to compile federal and state data in regards to new COVID-19 cases, including number of positive and negative tests.

Here’s the latest data, updated on August 24:

Positive tests: 5,677,847

Negative tests: 66,015,700

Pending tests: 4,149

Number of hospitalized patients: 39,030

Patient deaths: 168,858
