RPM and Medicare in 2026: Making remote monitoring easier and more effective

Potential changes for remote physiologic monitoring and remote therapeutic monitoring in the 2026 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

The draft 2026 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) could bring changes for the better for doctors using remote monitoring to treat their patients.

Lucienne Marie Ide, MD, PhD, outlined some of the significant advances for remote physiologic monitoring (RPM) and remote therapeutic monitoring (RTM) in this analysis for her company, Rimidi. She spoke with Medical Economics about the state of RPM and RTM in health care. There are reasons why physicians might see more reimbursement and better patient outcomes if Medicare can ease some of the operational challenges for physicians interested in using remote monitoring. In this video series, Ide explains what could be coming in the 2026 MPFS.
