A leader of the American Independent Medical Practice Association discusses new AMA findings about the state of private practice physicians.
The Policy Research Perspectives paper, “Physician Practice Characteristics in 2024: Private Practices Account for Less Than Half of Physicians in Most Specialties,” published by the American Medical Association, identified three major causes for the decline of independent physicians. Paul Berggreen, MD, a gastroenterologist and president and board chair of the American Independent Medical Practice Association (AIMPA), discusses the first two: declining reimbursement and rising costs.
