Holidays vs. healthy habits

It’s fun to gather with family and friends to celebrate the holiday season in December. But parties and events make it easy to gorge on food and drink, and spend less time on exercise, according to a new survey.

Typhoid is still a threat

Did you know approximately 9 million people a year become ill due to typhoid? Salmonella Typhi was “officially” discovered in 1880, but may have been responsible for plagues dating from the ancient Greeks.

Health care competition

The Federal Trade Commission and U.S. Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services jointly announced they stand together to promote competition that leads to lower health care costs for families and taxpayers, while improving quality. The three will seek information about how private equity investment is affecting health care.
