Physician disciplinary actions: Was there a pandemic effect?

In August 2023, Public Citizen, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit consumer advocacy group, published the report, “Ranking of the Rate of State Medical Boards’ Serious Disciplinary Actions, 2019-2021.” Report coauthor Robert E. Oshel, PhD, describes a variety of effects that the COVID-19 pandemic could have had on state medical board willingness to consider serious disciplinary actions against physicians.
