Drivers of health: Getting more attention

Health care quality measures are not new, but there is new attention on drivers of health, how to measure them, and how to improve them, says Physicians Foundation President Gary Price, MD, MBA. The Physicians Foundation has studied how these affect patient health, and believes a proposal by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for a Universal Foundation to measure drivers of health could lead to new ways for doctors to help patients deal with social and economic conditions that affect well-being.
