How many novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases were announced today?

The COVID Tracking Project is a volunteer effort to compile federal and state data in regards to new COVID-19 cases, including number of positive and negative tests. Data on vaccination comes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Here’s the latest data, updated on January 7:

Positive tests: 21,070,136

Negative tests: 200,213,534

Number of hospitalized patients: 132,476

Patient deaths: 352,123

Total vaccine doses distributed: 17,288,950

Patients who've received a vaccine dose: 5,306,797
