What are the clinical benefits of participating in an HIE?

Using information from an HIE has many benefits.

Christopher Hobson, M.D., says that using information from an HIE leads to fewer duplicative procedures, lower costs, improved patient safety, and enables emergency departments to get information about patients who might not be able to provide it themselves.
