The main reasons people ages 18-64 do not have insurance

Although the number of Americans lacking health insurance has dropped significantly since 2013, 14.5% of adults still didn’t have coverage in 2019. To better understand why, the National Center for Health Statistics included questions about insurance in its annual household survey. What follows are the main reasons people ages 18-64 reported for not having insurance, with the top three broken down by demographic characteristics and health status.
