Article

Think your practice is located in a high-crime area? In the most dangerous neighborhoods in the U.S., you have a 1 in 1 chance of being mugged, having your car stolen or having your laptop ripped off within a year, according to a new report by AOL Inc.'s personal-finance website WalletPop.

The statistics were published by WalletPop, using exclusive neighborhood-crime data developed by Dr. Andrew Schiller at NeighborhoodScout.com. The rankings were based on data provided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the property crime rate is based on the predicted number of property crimes per 1,000 neighborhood residents.

The report doesn’t rank neighborhoods by physical violence; instead, these are neighborhoods that have seen the most rampant home, auto and personal-property thefts.
