News

Robert E. Oshel, PhD, an adviser to the Public Citizen Health Research Group, says physician licensing is a matter of state law.

In August 2023, Public Citizen, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit consumer advocacy group, published the report, “Ranking of the Rate of State Medical Boards’ Serious Disciplinary Actions, 2019-2021.” Report coauthor Robert E. Oshel, PhD, says states want to regulate their own licensing, and understandably so, instead of having a national licensure system.
