CMS launches medical home study

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services launched a division last month charged with testing "new ways of delivering healthcare and paying healthcare providers that can save money for Medicare and Medicaid while improving quality of care," including the patient-centered medical homes, according to CMS.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) launched a division last month charged with testing "new ways of delivering healthcare and paying healthcare providers that can save money for Medicare and Medicaid while improving the quality of care," including the Patient-Centered Medical Homes, according to CMS.

As part of the new Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, 8 states have been selected to participate in a demonstration project to evaluate the effectiveness of physicians and other health professionals across the care system working in a more integrated fashion and receiving coordinated payment from Medicare, Medicaid, and private health plans.
