10 safest states in the COVID-19 pandemic

As vaccination rates across the U.S. rise and many states walk back COVID-19 pandemic precautions, some are in better shape than others.

According to a report from WalletHub, analysts compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across five key metrics to determine the safest states during the COVID-19 pandemic as of June 23, 2021. The data set included the rate of COVID-19 transmission, positive testing, hospitalizations and death, and the share of the eligible population getting vaccinated.
