Students at the 10 least expensive private medical schools can enjoy paying 20% less in tuition and fees each year.

Med students have it tough. After paying for four years of undergraduate schooling they still have years ahead of paying for medical school. So if you don’t have the money to shell out to the most expensive private schools, like Harvard University, prospective medical students can look at the least expensive private schools.

However, while few of the most expensive were also in the top 10 for best research and primary care schools, even fewer of the least expensive are. Only one school even broke into the top 20 for best primary care schools.

The most expensive of all private schools was Tufts University, but at the other end, the least expensive is Baylor College of Medicine.

Schools designated as RNP are ranked in the bottom one fourth of their rankings category.

On average, according to , the average cost for the 10 least expensive schools was 20% less than the average private medical school. Students were paying approximately $36,494 a year.

While Baylor College of Medicine, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Ponce School of Medicine and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine are all private schools, they offer both in-state and out-of-state tuition rates. The programs' in-state tuition rates are lower than the out-of-state rates provided.

Keep an eye out for lists for most and least expensive public schools. Sometimes tuition is free for in-state students, but the fees or exorbitant to make up for it.
