Medical Economics is a finalist for a 2024 Jesse H. Neal Award, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious contest for business-to-business content creators.

The magazine has been nominated for its October 2023 issue commemorating its 100th anniversary. The nomination is in the contest’s “Best Single Issue of a Tabloid/Newspaper/Magazine” category for publications with brand revenue between
$3 million and $7 million.

Begun in 1954, the Neal Award is an annual competition that encompasses both journalism and design excellence in the business-to-business space. This year’s competition has 212 finalists in 25 categories.

“We are delighted and honored to be nominated for this distinguished award,” said Chris Mazzolini, vice president, content for MJH Life Sciences, and editorial director of Medical Economics. “It is a well-deserved tribute to everyone who worked on this issue. Their hard work, dedication and creativity are what make Medical Economics a vital resource for helping doctors manage their practice and advance their careers.”

Titled “Celebrating a century of physician excellence,” the issue features sections on how and why medical practice has evolved during the past century, the most significant scientific discoveries and inventions in medicine, and a lighthearted look at how doctors have been portrayed in entertainment and popular culture.

Also included are an interview with a still-practicing 101-year-old physician, a comparison of the tools doctors used a century ago and today, a photo montage portraying the life of a country doctor in the 1940s, and more.

This is Medical Economics’ first nomination for an award since 2016. It last won in 2014 for an article in the “Best Instructional Content” category by Senior Editor Jeffrey Bendix. Winners of this year’s competition will be announced April 26 at a lunch ceremony in New York City.
