Drivers of health: An introduction

Physicians Foundation President Gary Price, MD, MBA, introduces drivers of health, also called determinants of health or social determinants of health. The Physicians Foundation has studied how these affect patient health, and believes a proposal by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for a Universal Foundation to measure drivers of health could lead to new ways for doctors to help patients deal with social and economic conditions that affect well-being.
