How many novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases were announced today?

The COVID Tracking Project is a volunteer effort to compile federal and state data in regards to new COVID-19 cases, including number of positive and negative tests. Data on vaccination comes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Here’s the latest data, updated on January 21:

Positive tests: 24,109,760

Negative tests: 219,261,216

Number of hospitalized patients: 122,700

Patient deaths: 396,837

Total vaccine doses distributed: 35,990,150

Patients who've received the first dose: 14,270,441

Patients who’ve received the second dose: 2,161,419
